| Hours-long police standoff ends peacefully in Jersey Shore town: Photos on social media appeared to show an armored vehicle behind police lines. No one was hurt and no arrests were made after an hours-long police standoff with a man with a gun ended peacefully in Manasquan on Sunday night, authorities said. A spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office described the man as an "armed suspect in crisis," and added that the county's emergency response team was involved. Borough officials in Manasquan on Sunday urged the public to avoid a stretch of First Avenue cordoned off because of law enforcement activity. The borough's Office of Emergency Management did not specify the nature of the police activity, but said it resulted in the closure of First Avenue between Main Street and Riddle Avenue.
